Walt Disney World is a fantastic place to hunker down during a hurricane. All of the power is run underground, so loss of electricity is rare. There’s no chance of fallen trees taking out power lines and cast members are present to “ride out” the storm with guests.
We headed out to Disney’s All Star Music Resort’s Intermission Food Court during dinner service tonight to check out what kind of options would be available to guests during a Category 2 hurricane.
Here’s a look at what you can expect as far as food offerings go during a storm.
Disney Value Resorts Offer an Abbreviated Menu During Hurricane Dorian
There were two grab-and-go options available for lunch and dinner as well as one bagged breakfast option.
Note that all electronic menu boards have been turned off.
Cast members were busy restocking as guests grabbed pre-packaged meals.
Pizza is not available by the slice. Nor is it available as a family meal for six including salad and breadsticks. Only large pizzas are being served. There is a vegan option available.
The pasta station menu had changed from offering lasagna and pasta to a Create-Your-Own Pasta.
We asked at the grill shop and were told that a vegan burger option is available here even though not listed on the revised menu placard.
So there you have it. This is what you can expect when riding out a hurricane at a Walt Disney World value resort. Have you ever experienced a hurricane at Walt Disney World? What was your experience?
My husband and I have been staying at Art of Animation since Friday night. Disney was so incredibly accommodating and considerate! I cannot say enough positive things about our whole experience. In the end we were very fortunate to avoid Dorian’s worst but Disney is absolutely the best place to ride out a hurricane!!
I couldn’t agree with you more. Disney truly is the best place to ride out a hurricane. As Walt Disney World locals, we book accommodations there whenever it looks like a storm is coming our way. Glad to hear they treated you well.
