Space 220 Restaurant Entrance Signs in EPCOT

First announced back at the D23 Expo in 2017, Space 220 restaurant has been highly anticipated. Sadly, the pandemic, extended layoffs, and construction delays have pushed back the opening date, originally set for 2020. Based on clues we’ve seen, the restaurant may be very close to operational, but when it will actually open still remains a mystery.

Space 220 Restaurant Concept

For those unfamiliar, the Space 220 restaurant storyline is that you will be dining 220 miles up from the earth, enjoying views of outer space and back down to earth as you dine. Located right at the Mission: Space pavilion, you’ll enter right next to that attraction.

Disney has noted that “…to begin your journey, board a special space elevator that will ascend to the stars! Along the way, viewports will give you an aerial view of EPCOT as you travel high above the planet.”

The menu will be modern American cuisine, with more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.

Space 220 Restaurant Progress

We recently visited EPCOT and took a walk over to the Mission: Space area to see what we could see. We were informed that the two entrance signs were installed, and shrouded in protective boxes to keep prying eyes from seeing. Take a look:

This will most likely be the check-in area for the Space 220 restaurant. You’ll then head behind the Mission: Space attraction to begin your journey.
