Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a great place for vegan options, and Nomad Lounge has been a favorite since it started serving the Impossible Sliders. Now Nomad Lounge has a few new modifiable options giving us even more vegan choices – including a Tofu Poke Bowl and a unique salad.
Friend of the site (and me) Karen H. recently visited Nomad Lounge to try out these new options. First up is a new “Land Salad” which is technically on the Tiffins menu next door, but the Nomad servers were kind enough to let them order it, so you may be able to also (they do share a kitchen). The Land Salad features a harvest from the Land pavilion in EPCOT! So the items may change slightly each week, depending on what veggies are harvested from the Living with the Land crops. So cool, right?
The Land Salad – $12 contains young lettuces harvested from the Land pavilion, walnut-rosted tomato muhammara, garlic breadcrumbs (these must be removed as they are cooked in butter), feta (also remove), sumac, and a citrus vinaigrette. 98% of the veggies added to the salad come directly from the Land pavilion. Karen said the salad tasted wonderfully fresh and the muhammara gave it a nice spice kick.
Also new is a Tuna Poke Bowl – $16, which can be modified to have tofu in place of the tuna. The good part about this is the tofu from Tiffins is one of my favorites, huge chunks, well seasoned and well-cooked. Served with steamed rice, red cabbage kimchi, edamame, and sesame-chili glaze.
I’m so excited to head over and try this. I love the poke bowl over at Three Bridges Bar & Grill, and I love Tiffins tofu entree, so this looks like the perfect mix. It looks nice and filling too!
If tofu isn’t your thing, you can of course still get the Impossible Sliders – $15. Just switch out the bread for a Hawaiian roll from the kids Bunny Chow meal (or a gluten-free roll) and nix the aoili and they are vegan, along with the yucca fries.
