Vegan Breakfast (Without the Characters) at Cape May Cafe

With the reopening of Cape May Cafe’s dinner service, we saw some new vegan items join the family-style menu. Breakfast also reopened at Cape May Cafe, sadly without the character dining component. We have the rundown of all the vegan breakfast items for you at the new Cape May Cafe breakfast.

Cape May Cafe

Cape May Café Breakfast Details:

  • Cape May Café is normally a buffet-style restaurant, primarily serving seafood at dinner. During dinner, even with the buffet closed, the smells of the seafood cooking fills the restaurant and walkway around it, so if that is a no-go for you, you may want to choose another place to dine at Disney.
  • With the reopening, food is now served family-style, still all-you-care-to-enjoy (Disney-speak for all-you-can-eat).
  • The price for breakfast is $25 for adults and $14 for children aged 3-9, plus tax and gratuity.
  • It is open for breakfast from 7:30-11:30am, and dinner from 5-9pm
  • Previously, the breakfast was a character dining location but that is no longer the case as of now.

Cape May Cafe Vegan Breakfast Offerings:

You’ll start the morning off right with coffee service. They asked if almond milk was ok so that’s what they brought out. They may also have soy on hand.

Next up is some vegan toast, this was also gluten-free bread, so if you aren’t a fan of that type of bread, you may want to skip it. If you’re gluten-free, though, bonus! Served with Earth Balance spread.

As expected, fresh fruit is one of the options here as well. A lovely mix of cut up fruits, this is normally served with dairy-free yogurt but they were out this morning.

Of course, no Disney breakfast would be complete without Mickey Waffles. The gluten-free Mickey Waffles are naturally vegan as well. Served with Earth Balance and syrup. Remember, this breakfast is all-you-care-to-enjoy so you can have all the Mickey Waffles you want!

Now for me, the best part of this vegan breakfast at Cape May Cafe is the egg options, using Just Egg. There are also some replacement meat options for the usual non-vegan sausage and bacon. I love that this is available because sometimes you just want to have vegan versions of the standard breakfast fare.

Here you have some Just Egg scrambled plant-based “eggs,” tater tots, a Beyond sausage link (though we’ve seen Gardein sausage patties served as well), and Sweet Earth brand “bacon.” Looks pretty amazing to me!

More than that, you also get a Just Egg omelet filled with spinach, onion, red peppers, and mushrooms. It’s so nice to have multiple options! Of course you don’t have to get everything, you can pick and choose what you’d like to enjoy if plant-based meats are not your thing, or you aren’t an omelet fan.

Is the Cape May Cafe Vegan Breakfast Worth It?

All in all, despite some bumps in service and confusion about what was available, this newly reopened breakfast location is a great choice. We do miss the characters, and hope that they get their ordering in line so they aren’t frequently out of things like the vegan yogurt (or bread at dinner service). This is the first week they are re-opened though so hopefully they work out those kinks since as we know there a lot of us out here wanting wonderful vegan options like this.

Very special thanks to Amanda Tinney for sharing her breakfast photos and experience with us! I know it really made me want to book a breakfast reservation myself!
