Today our travels take us to The Landing in Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort to check out the vegan options at Morimoto Asia Street Food.
Morimoto Asia Street Food is the quick service window attached to the Morimoto Asia restaurant and they are serving up pan-Asian delights for both lunch and dinner.
Vegan Options at Morimoto Asia Street Food in Disney Springs
The menu at Morimoto Asia Street Food has seen a few changes which are not reflected on the official menu posted on the Walt Disney World website.
Most of the options are prepared in advance here so there’s not many modifications that can be made, however we did find two items that were vegan friendly.
The first item is off the “BITES” section of the menu. These are listed as Sesame Balls ($5) and come six pieces to an order.
They are white rice balls filled with a sweet red bean paste which are rolled in sesame seeds and then flash fried. These are prepared in a shared fryer and had an odd greasy flavor to them with a chewy texture.
The next item was kind of a hack. The menu board lists a couple of different Rice Bowls. The bowls are not vegan friendly but have vegan friendly garnishes. They normally run $12 with the animal proteins. We were able to order a bowl without animal products and still got all of the plant toppings for only $2.00!
The Vegan Rice Bowl (ask for a side of white rice) starts with a base of rice which is topped with red ginger, cilantro, scallions and a mix of fresh grated ginger and scallions. We were originally informed that the kimchi was vegan friendly. It is NOT as it does contain fish sauce.
There were three sauces that could be added to the bowl but non of the employees could confirm if they were free from any meaty sauces, dairy or honey so we just skipped them. All the toppings gave the bowl enough flavor as is. There were Kikkoman soy sauce, mustard and sweet & sour packets available as well. These pre-packaged sauces were all vegan friendly.
You can place your order at the window here and then take your snacks to-go as you roam Disney Springs or you can sit and enjoy them on the outdoor patio.
