Disney Parks Blog recently announced some menu updates for a few of the restaurants at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – while most are meat-based options, we do have two new plant-based vegan options to try out at the Maji pool bar and the Mara quick service location.
The Maji pool bar will feature the Multigrain Tabbouleh. According to the Parks Blog, this bowl is “a vibrant salad with protein-rich grains, fresh herbs, and grilled vegetables.”
Next. over at The Mara, the quick-service location on the ground floor of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House, they have added the plant-based South African Vegetable Bowl. Disney Parks Blog notes that, “Chef Wendy Welcovitz and Sous Chef Khuloud Abu Samra drew inspiration from South African cuisine to thoughtfully craft each component: curried vegetable stew, pilau rice, kale slaw, dried fruit achar, and avocado-tahini sauce.”
We can’t wait to try both of these quick service vegan items at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. As of this writing, The Mara menu on the app and online does not list the new South African Vegetable Bowl, just the Chickpea Sandwich (which is delicious) and the Falafel platter.

I love that sandwich, but I’m excited to try this new vegan bowl at The Mara! We will update this post and our social accounts when we get over to try these new vegan items in person at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Be sure to tag us if you try them too!
