Vegan Disney Food Review: Rose & Crown Dining Room in the UK at Epcot

Greetings from the World Showcase promenade in Epcot where today we are taking a little food tour of a restaurant that has become a forerunner in the Vegan Disney Food movement! That restaurant is the Rose & Crown Dining Room in Epcot’s UK pavilion where the vegan options are plentiful.

You can find the UK pavilion adjacent to the Canada pavilion and the International Gateway which connects Epcot to the Boardwalk Resort area.

Rose & Crown is renowned for their Pub, but today we are going to talk about their full service restaurant.

Rose & Crown Atmosphere

The Rose & Crown Dining Room is fashioned after a proper family-friendly British pub. There are weathered dark wood floors inside with textured wall coverings and paneling. You’ll find accents of antique barware and every table gets a shaker of malt vinegar.

Guests have the choice to dine inside the dining room or outside on the covered patio overlooking World Showcase Lagoon. Half of the outdoor seating is in a weather protected area and the other half includes tables with umbrellas right along the seawall.

Rose & Crown Dining Room Vegan Options

The chefs at Rose & Crown have been busy as of late and there are now five vegan options to choose from here. Recently the recipe for the dressing on one of their more popular salads was veganized. You can find it on the “Appetizers” section of the menu.

This is the Coronation Salad ($11) A crunchy papadam cracker serves at the base and it’s topped with tender Bibb lettuce, grape tomatoes, sweet currants, red onion, shredded carrots and an apple madras dressing.

I shared this salad with a girlfriend on a recent visit and we couldn’t stop raving about it!

Moving on to the “Entrees” portion of this review…

New to the menu is the Savory Hot Pot ($21). It replaces the Savory Vegetable Crumble ($20) which was one of may favorite dishes at Epcot. Here’s a photo of the Savory Vegetable Crumble May it RIP…

We haven’t made it out to Rose & Crown to sample the new Savory Hot Pot yet but it’s described as Seasonal Vegetables in a Meatless Rich Casserole baked with a Sliced Potato Topping. We will update this post soon with that photo after we’ve sampled it.

Some entrees  you won’t see officially listed on the menu as vegan are items that can be modified.

This is the Tofu Masala Curry ($22) with peas, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes and rice smothered in a warm curry sauce.

You can also get a vegan version of the Bangers and Mash ($21) which will come with Beyond sausage links and roasted mushrooms over colcannon potatoes with caramelized onion jam smothered in a red wine demi gravy.

And last but certainly not least are the vegan Fish and Chips ($23) which is “Rose & Crown’s Signature Dish”. You’ll get three pieces of Gardein fishless filets served with chips (french fries) and mushy peas along with vegan house-made tartar sauce.

You can also get a smaller portion of just the fish and chips at the Rose & Crown Pub. They are not yet available at the neighboring quick service location Yorkshire County Fish Shop, but I’m betting they will be soon due to their popularity.

Thirsty? Rose and Crown has you covered and is slinging drinks like these proper pints.

Rose & Crown Dining Room is open for both lunch and dinner. Lunch hours are 12:00 – 3:30 p.m. and dinner runs 3:43 – 9:00 p.m. You can get all of the items listed above at both lunch and dinner for the same price.
