POG Juice flavored Tropical Macarons!
If you’ve seen me answering any sort of “what do you wish Disney would add…” for vegan menu options, it’s almost always more vegan desserts, specifically vegan baked goods, but any dessert is usually fine with me. Enter a surprise news flash yesterday – a common follower of both Melissa at VDW and little ol’ me messaged her the ingredients from an item at Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, right next to Kona Cafe. The ingredients not only seemed vegan, it even said “Plant Based Tropical Macarons” at the top. (insert mind-explody emoji here).
Obviously, I wanted to try these asap. A huge rain storm and a fear that they’d be sold out kept me away till this morning. I figured they might not sell them in the morning, but wanted to try anyway. I’ve previously tried to get the Coconut Tapioca dessert at breakfast time and they wouldn’t sell it then either (even tho it’s a great breakfast option). So we found out that they start selling them at around 11am, so keep that in mind when you’re planning your visit. You may get a nice cast member that takes pity on your poor vegan self, but you shouldn’t count on that. So now that we got them, let’s share all the details including our plant-based Tropical Macaron review!
POG Juice flavored Tropical Macaron Ingredients
First, let me share the Plant-based POG Juice flavored Tropical Macaron ingredients listing on the box:
As you can see, they are gluten-friendly as well. This is just such a great addition for us vegans and gluten-free folks!

Overall, I loved these and am SO thrilled that Disney has given us this option! Huge thank you again to the Disney chefs responsible. I know I’m not alone in being so happy that we have a new vegan dessert to enjoy. Let me know if you give this a try and what you think. I hope this is the first of many vegan dessert options for us around the Walt Disney World parks and resorts. (But please let us buy them any time – as vegans, we are used to not having many options, so things like ‘breakfast’ and ‘dessert’ just kind of run together for us). Being able to buy and eat them any time would be AMAZING. Let me know if you agree!
If you are there for breakfast and wanting to grab a quick vegan option to go, they also have the Erin McKenna’s vegan, gluten and soy-free, and kosher cinnamon sugar donuts there at the register:
