Vegan Disney Food Review: Dinner at Citricos in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
One of my favorite things to do as a local is to spend an evening relaxing at The Grand. The resort sits on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon adjacent to the Magic Kingdom and if you time your dinner service right, offers magnificent views of Happily Ever After Fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant.
My ideal evening involves enjoying a round of cocktails while listening to The Grand Society Orchestra play and then indulging in dinner at signature restaurant Cítricos.
You can find Citricos located on the second floor of The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa tucked into a corner overlooking the gardens, pool and marina.
Citricos Atmosphere
Citricos has a Mediterranean feel to it with its carved wood, wrought iron railings and mosaic tiled entryway. The restaurant offers a full service bar and lounge which blends beautifully into the main dining space.
Tables are set with white linen tablecloths accented with a single orchid. Chairs are covered in rich patterned fabric complementing an intricately designed carpet.
Vibrant yellow walls have large picture windows dressed in color blocked curtains.
Guests are escorted past the large show kitchen on their way to their table.
Citricos Vegan Food Options
Along with craft cocktails, Citricos boasts an award winning wine list. Dinner service here starts with complementary bread service which is vegan as-is. Gluten-free bread is also available upon request and bread is served with Earth Balance butter or olive oil.
From the “Soups and Salads” portion of the menu order the Salade Verte ($12) which needs no modification and is composed of bibb lettuce, haricot verts, heirloom tomatoes, fennel, niçoise olives and fingerling potatoes tossed in a sherry-mustard vinaigrette.
On the “Entrees” portion of the menu you can have the Quinoa and Provençale Ratatouille ($32) which is made with tomato confit and a chickpea sauce with basil, wild mushrooms and seasonal vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, corn and peas topped with micro greens.
On several occasions I’ve asked the chef to prepare me an off-menu Vegan Risotto with plant milk and whatever veggies they had on hand. It always ended up creamy and delicious.
Not to be missed is the Vegan Chocolate Hazelnut Bar ($17) for dessert. This small cake has layers of coconut milk ganache and hazelnut banana mousse topped with a chocolate praline pirouette. It comes with vegan toffee and a scoop of coffee coconut ice cream.
Citricos is open nightly for dinner. Advanced Dining Reservations are recommended. You can also choose to sit at the bar or in the lounge and receive full dinner service.
Dress code requires gentlemen to remove their hats. Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Women must wear capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may be worn by both men and women if in good condition.
