Water cake aka raindrop cake aka what the heck is that?!

Find this dessert at Japan’s NEWEST restaurant Takumi-Tei in Epcot.

This dish is called Suiren Dani.

It’s a jelly-like dessert made from water and agar powder. It doesn’t have much taste so the accoutrements are important.

This one is dressed with rose petals, gold leaf and kuromitsu, a Japanese sugar syrup.

Kuromitsu translates to “black honey” but this variety is made from brown sugar in a production method referred to as kokuto.

It’s described as having a very mild molasses flavor.

Omit the kinako crumb to make it vegan friendly.
