Vegan Disney Food Review: Yachtsman Steakhouse Dinner at Walt Disney World Resort

Think there’s nothing vegan at Walt Disney World’s premiere steakhouse? Think again. Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has just reopened with a brand new plant-Based vegan menu and we’re here to show you all of it. – Updated January 2023

Walt Disney World has slowly been reopening all of its table service locations and one of the most recent is Yachtsman Steakhouse, located in, you guessed it, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The Yacht and its sister property, Beach Club Resort are two of our favorite hotels due to its proximity to EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Both are within walking distance, at EPCOT you have a dedicated entry, and are close to the Skyliner. Another reason they are favorites are the amazing variety of vegan options within both properties. From Cape May Cafe to Ale & Compass to Beaches and Cream, you have LOTS of vegan options here. But let’s talk about Yachtsman Steakhouse and its new menu!

Vegan Disney Food Review: Yachtsman Steakhouse at Walt Disney World Resort

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is a Disney signature restaurant located in the Yacht Club Resort and is part of the Epcot resort area nestled along the shores of Crescent Lake.

Disney’s Yachtsman Steakhouse Atmosphere

The Yacht Club Resort has a New England feel to it which carries over into the restaurant. Inside you’ll find circular windows, knotty pine beams, nautical accents and tables clad with white linen tablecloths.

The restaurant is divided into two main seating areas with windows overlooking the Stormalong Bay water recreation area.

Yachtsman does not have bar seating, but does have a neighboring lounge, Crew’s Cup Lounge, where you can indulge in a beverage while waiting for your table.

Fair warning. This is a steakhouse and there is a display case situated in between the lounge and the restaurant which houses cuts of meat. There is also a very prevalent steak scent throughout the restaurant. It is unavoidable when entering the dining room here.

Disney’s Yachtsman Steakhouse New Vegan Dinner Options

The meal begins with complimentary bread service.

The restaurant serves two types of bread. The sunflower multigrain sourdough is vegan friendly but the onion bread is not, as it contains dairy.

Our server was also nice enough to bring out Earth Balance with Himalayan sea salt like the butter comes with. You can always request this if you don’t receive it initially.

The real draw is the split roasted garlic bulb though. So delicious!

The Yachtsman Steakhouse formerly had a dedicated vegan menu similar to the (also former) Vegan Unplugged menu at Disney’s California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. Now there is simply a vegan salad, entree, and dessert option.

The salad is a veganized version of the Steakhouse Wedge Salad, which normally comes with candied bacon, egg, and blue cheese dressing. Our version has a delicious plant-based ranch-style dressing.

Update: As of January 2023, the entree has changed here. Disney has been doing this a lot lately with their resort signature dining locations. They don’t update the menus in the app or online, so if you don’t happen to be there to see the change, you don’t know ahead of time. Thanks to a generous reader, we have a photo of the new option below.

The new entree is Trumpet Mushroom “Scallops” with Faro Rice, Squash, and Spinach Puree.

Alysha said she did enjoy the dish but the squash was completely unseasoned. I will have to head over and try this new dish soon!

Here is the previous entree, Sweet Potato and Seasonal Mushroom Dumplings, served with haricot vert, petite sorrel and soubise – $36.

You are definitely paying for your signature dining location here and the dish is no doubt complicated to prepare, just not super filling for the price. Along with the bread and salad, we were definitely satisfied though. What’s amusing is the ‘seasonal’ name, every time we’ve had it or people have shared their photos with us, it’s been exactly the same dish and ingredients as above.

For dessert  we have the Pineapple and Coconut Tart – $12.

This tart consists of roasted pineapple curd, coconut crema, sable cookie crunch, and cherry gelee. This is really unique and if you like tropical flavors or coconut desserts, you’ll love this one.

Because this is a Disney Signature Restaurant, there is a dress code. No tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language or graphics is allowed. Men are encouraged to wear collared shirts and although jeans are permitted, dressier attire is preferred.

If you’re looking for a more casual dining experience at the Yacht Club Resort try Ale & Compass. You can read our review on it here: Vegan Disney Food Review: Ale & Compass Lounge

Barring the walk past the meat case when entering the dining room, our experience eating inside Disney’s Yachtsman Steakhouse as a vegan has always been a pleasant one.
