House of Blues was once a favorite spot for an indulgent double Impossible cheeseburger made with two Impossible patties, lettuce, pickles, and a “secret sauce” along with vegan American cheese. This made it a great spot to hang with friends and enjoy the cool folk art and blues history all over the walls and ceiling of the restaurant and music venue. Recently we were informed that this burger had changed, and House of Blues was no longer using Impossible meats. They had made a deal with Everything Legendary, and would be exclusively serving their vegan patties.
Everything Legendary is a Black Owned Business, which appeared on Shark Tank. It’s great to see a big chain like House of Blues supporting this business. They seem to specialize only in burgers right now, which are soy-free and gluten-free along with being high in protein and using no GMO’s. You can also order their burgers and meat directly to your home.
We headed to House of Blues to try out this new offering and see if it stacked up to the previous double stack option here. This new burger is simply called the Everything Legendary Burger and is $17. It comes with pickles, lettuce, and a vegan aioli, along with the previous vegan American cheese on a vegan bun. Served with fries.
The aioli really makes the burger here, as the patty itself is kind of dry (although it was pretty char-grilled so maybe that had to do with it too?). You can add tomatoes if you’d like and also avocado for an additional $1. We would probably do this if we went back. The burger itself has a much more grain-forward taste than an Impossible or Beyond burger has. It reminded me of a Field Roast sausage, without the additional flavor punch those have. It was a good burger, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to order it again. It was also very different from the old burger with the melted cheese, the cheese was just cold on top. Again, this could be preparation and your mileage may vary.
If you’re looking for a double Impossible cheeseburger, head to Steakhouse 71 for the off-menu vegan smash burger which is currently my favorite burger on property!
