In keeping with Disney’s recent trend of changing menus every few weeks, we have a new dessert lineup at Sanaa, located in the Kidani Village section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, including a vegan option.
Previously, the plant-based vegan dessert at Sanaa was a rice pudding, Kheer, which was is a coconut-rice pudding with cashew streusel and saffron-poached fruit
The new vegan item (and all the new desserts), are themed after African animals. This one pays tribute to the Ankole cattle, recognizable for their huge horns and viewable both at Sanaa and on the Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom .
The Ankole Cake is spiced chocolate cake featuring baobab curd, coconut gel, meringue horns, and STARR African Rum-macerated citrus.
Spiced chocolate cake sounds like what they use for the Flamingo Cake, available at the Mara quick service location and Boma upon request as a vegan option.
I’m excited to experience this new option in person and will of course update this post with a review as well as share on instagram!
Are you looking forward to trying this new vegan dessert at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge? Let me know in the comments!
