Rumors had been swirling for a while, but Disney finally officially announced that Typhoon Lagoon water park would be reopening January 2 – and with it, some new Dole Whip treats (most of which are vegan as is!). Typhoon Lagoon originally opened in 1989 believe it or not, but it remains a guest favorite because of its lush theming and entertaining water slides and more.
Sadly, Typhoon Lagoon remained closed during the pandemic closures and fans wondered when and if the park would ever reopen, as aerial photos showed plants and shrubbery growing out of control and no mention of a reopening date from Disney. Finally, with the start of Genie+ service, Typhoon Lagoon was mentioned and we just waited for the official word from Disney that the park would again be sharing its waves and slides with the world. The announcement came with some updates about food, specifically a lot of Dole Whip news!
You can see all of the available vegan options at Typhoon Lagoon in our Vegan Water Parks page. We are hoping that they add more vegan food options back, as of now there is the one tofu bowl and Uncrustables, the vegan burger and brat are not on the menu. Sad face.
What we’re most excited about however, are the new (vegan!) Dole Whip options! Head over to Typhoon Tillie’s Snack Shack at Typhoon Lagoon and you’ll find the following Dole Whip items:
The Hei Hei Cone returns but not at the Magic Kingdom. If you order this, be sure to ask for no eyes and no “comb” because those items are not vegan. Also check the cone because some manufacturers are not vegan but they originally were. The Hei Hei Cone will be $5.29. The Motonui Island Twist – also $5.29, appears to be dipped in a white chocolate, so we’ll need to check on the ingredients for that and the candy flower accessories. But the edible flowers and lime Dole Whip are vegan and the plain waffle cone should also be vegan.
The Dole Whip cone is listed as plant-based, so we know this cone is safe. The flavors listed as available to choose from are Pineapple, Lime, Mango or Raspberry. You should be able to swirl or do half and half of these flavors too, depending on which flavor is in each machine. This will be $4.99
Also available is Dole Whip with a kick – of alcohol! Pineapple, Lime, Mango or Raspberry served with Plantation Original Dark Rum, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum or El Jimador Silver Tequila – $11
Lastly, if you want an EXTRA kick – there is the Habanero Lime Galley Shack Swirl, featuring Dole Whip Mango and Lime, El Jimador Silver Tequila, Habanero-Lime flavoring, Sprite and Lime-Chili Rim for $13
Which Dole Whip are you most excited to try? We’ll be heading out there soon after they open to see what other vegan options are available at Typhoon Lagoon for 2022!
