BIG news today as Disney surprised us by revealing a NEW ice cream spot in the former Ample Hills location at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. Located right next door to the BoardWalk Bakery, the aptly named BoardWalk Ice Cream appeared today and then opened at 3pm, unannounced! We did a bit of intel to discover what if anything was vegan at BoardWalk Ice Cream, and will share our findings with you below.
IMPORTANT UPDATE! We have just learned that apparently this new location is CLOSED Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We aren’t sure if this is temporary or what but will update as we learn more. Plan accordingly!
So as you may be able to guess, being across the lake (Crescent Lake that is) from Beaches & Cream, this new spot has a very similar, though not as extensive, menu. The official Boardwalk Ice Cream menu lists some of our favorites from Beaches & Cream, with new names.
Thundering Surf Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sundae (aka a smaller No Way Jose)
A Peanut Butter and Hot Fudge delight featuring Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Morsels, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry
Surf’s Up Sundae – Three Scoops (aka the Old Fashioned Sundae)
Choice of one of the following toppings: Marshmallow, Strawberry, Pineapple, Peanut Butter, Hot Fudge, Caramel, or Chocolate Syrup topped with Whipped Cream, Toasted Almonds, and a Cherry. Additional Toppings 1 dollar each
Everything but the Kitchen Sink (haha, literally, they don’t have a Kitchen Sink or Mickey and Minnie sink equivalent sundae). But let’s get to the vegan options.
What’s Vegan at BoardWalk Ice Cream?
Much like Beaches & Cream, at BoardWalk Ice Cream you’ll find vegan Tofutti brand vanilla and chocolate flavors. Vegan toppings include: chocolate syrup (not fudge), strawberry sauce, pineapple sauce, peanut butter sauce, and marshmallow sauce. So you can use those options to create your own sundae creations from the menu items, or just have a scoop or two.
We’ll be updating this post with photos once we make our way over to try BoardWalk Ice Cream. We just wanted to get this info out for anyone planning a visit so you knew what you could order!
What we learned today (and we’ll treat this as unofficial rumor) was they are not sure if this will be a permanent addition or if a third party participant will eventually take this spot. But for the summer, they had the space, they had the ice cream, so why not?! Enjoy it while you can and let us know in the comments if you’ve experienced this new BoardWalk Ice Cream addition to the EPCOT Resort area line up!
