When you think “New Jersey style deli” do vegan options come to mind? Yeah, not for me either. But! Disney Parks Blog recently announced that “late this summer, the new BoardWalk Deli will be opening its doors at Disney’s BoardWalk. This location, previously the BoardWalk Bakery, is inspired by the delis of the Northeast region, with a menu that takes you on a road trip of classic sweet and savory flavors from New York to the Jersey Shore. We aren’t sure if there will be any sweet options for us but they did reveal not one but two vegan options coming to the new BoardWalk Deli menu!
First up, on the breakfast side of the BoardWalk Deli, a vegan Plant-based Ciabatta Sandwich with “egg” Florentine, plant-based cheese, tomato jam, and arugula that provides an exciting contrast of flavors.
I’m so excited for this!! It looks wonderful, especially that tomato jam! This also appears slightly similar to the Harvest Breakfast sandwich over at Artist’s Palette in Saratoga Springs, so it’s great to see more vegan quick-service breakfast items for sure!
Next up, a plant-based twist on a classic favorite, the Veggie Crunch Muffaletta is stacked with cured and pickled root vegetables, an olive-giardiniera tapenade and plant-based cheese, served on focaccia. Again, this sounds amazing. And to create a vegan option using just vegetables is a win in my book. I can’t wait to try this. Thank you to Disney for thinking of us with these BoardWalk Deli items, I really assumed we’d have nothing to choose from based on the theming!
We’ll of course share more as we learn more from Disney about opening dates and any other vegan options at BoardWalk Deli. Stay tuned here and on our @VeganDisneyFood instagram stories and posts.
