Asparagus Salad Added to EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival Menus

As we mentioned in our previous coverage of the 2021 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival, this year there was a new booth – Farmer’s Feast – which features a rotating menu every 40 days. The menu just switched over and a new modifiable menu item has appeared. When I spoke to a Disney chef back in March, I asked if any vegan or modifiable items would be coming up, and he told me about this asparagus dish coming to the Farmer’s Feast booth. So I’ve been excited for this to appear!

This will be the only modifiable item at Farmer’s Feast for the rest of the festival. You can read the rest of the vegan items at EPCOT Flower & Garden and see our walking guide map of all the vegan and modified items for the 2021 EPCOT festival.

Farmer’s Feast is one of two food booths located inside World Showplace, the event building between Canada and the UK pavilions in EPCOT’s World Showcase.

Previously, Farmer’s Feast featured spring onion soup and other non-vegan items. We do enjoy the idea of changing menus during the festival, it is great to switch things up and highlight some other items. We just wish there were even more vegan options (like one at each booth would be great, right?).

Warm Asparagus Salad at Farmer’s Feast Booth Review

It’s listed at the Farmer’s Feast menu board as “Warm Asparagus Salad with green and white asparagus, truffle vinaigrette, spring pea espuma with fresh truffles and shaved parmesan on top.” So obviously we’ll remove the parmesan, but outside of that, it’s vegan as is.

Warm Asparagus Farmers Feast

For those wondering, ‘espuma’ literally means foam in Spanish, and is a culinary foam, emulsified without the use of egg for a stabilizer. Honestly, it was my favorite part of this dish.

Warm Asparagus Farmers Feast

I love asparagus, I love a good vinaigrette. I’m not a huge truffle fan, but I can still enjoy something with truffle flavor. However, this dish was really lackluster for me. The spring pea espuma was absolutely delicious and I would eat an entire soup or dip made with this. The spring pea flavor comes across really strong and was seasoned perfectly.

The asparagus were, in fact, warm, and coated in the truffle vinaigrette. It mostly just had truffle flavor and not much else. The greens put on top had no dressing or anything on them, so you’re just eating those plain. I just think for $5.25, I’d spend my dollars on something more substantial and full of flavor. That said, if you are obsessed with asparagus or truffles, this may be your go-to dish. It was a one and done for me. If you’re looking for a vegetable dish, I’d definitely head outside to the Flavor Full Kitchen and get the Grilled Baby Vegetables. Much more satisfying.
